Poetically refreshing. If the gospel word is balm, couldn't other lesser words be such? And if so, even the words you confess above may be one layer of soothing ointment in the healing process. Take care my sister.

Oh, dear. I hadn't noticed that... Maybe I should have put in some subcategories in the rules to prevent the appearance of favoritism? Any Baptists out there? Catholics? Anglicans? I might just have to throw you in for good measure! :}

:) Yup. Sometime's I'm quite happy on days that I discover I've created a bunch of little art snobs. Not that I really want them to be "snobs" of course... but I'm quite happy when they don't feel they need to be pluralistic about what's "beautiful" any more readily than they would be about what's "true" or what's "good."

I don't remember the "Babysitter's Club" bookstore incident, but I'm glad you remember it with graciousness rather than rolling your eyes at your overbearing big sister. :) Love you, Bek!

I remember vividly, Heidi, when you were a cool college kid, and Heather and I were just young 'uns, you trying to convince me in a book store that I should buy something other than the Babysitter's Club books I had picked out...Heather, being the wiser and more mature twin, chose an M. Engle book, which both of us read and reread. I could still tell you what the book was about. I insisted on buying the Babysitter's Club book, which of course I read once and had no desire to pick up ever again (should of listened to the big sister!).
Taste can be taught and should be taught, and honestly, I've never really given that idea much thought until I read your blog today. Taste "education" of course can be ignored or forsaken, but why not make the attempt to mold character--we make every other attempt to bring up our children well.
As for me, let the molding (that sounds a bit gross!) begin fresh--I'm all for improving my character!
